PETER GREEN – FLEETWOOD MAC – SPLINTER GROUP

2-CD career retrospective combining the best of Peter Green's recent solo career with the Splinter Group with highlights of his original work with Fleetwood Mac including Green Manalishi, Oh Well! Albatross & Rattlesnake Shake.

2007 marks the 40th anniversary of the legendary Fleetwood Mac formed by Peter Green in London in 1967.

To celebrate this landmark Snapper Music has released Supernatural , the first release to combine the best of the new (Splinter Group) with the some of the old (Fleetwood Mac) Peter Green.

At the turn of the 1970s, Fleetwood Mac – Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer plus Mac's perennial rhythm section of John McVie & Mick Fleetwood – were in a class of their own, just about the most powerful band on the planet at the time.

The classic recordings from the infamous Boston Tea Party of February 1970 featured on Disc 1 cover the whole of his time with Fleetwood Mac from ‘Black Magic Woman' to ‘Green Manalishi' via ‘Albatross' and ‘Oh Well'. They capture a band playing at the absolute peak of its powers.

Green left the band shortly after these recordings and spent a long period in the wilderness only fully re-emerging in 1997 to critical acclaim with the Splinter Group.

The material that Peter Green recorded with the Splinter Group on five albums for Snapper Music represented a true return to form for the ex -Fleetwood Mac guitarist including the W.C. Handy award winning album 'The Robert Johnson Songbook'.

Green's first original material since the early eighties was presented on 'Destiny Road', produced by Pete Brown (Cream lyricist). In 2000, Peter Green released the second instalment of the Robert Johnson songbook 'Hotfoot Powder' boasting guest appearances from Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Dr John, Hubert Sumlin, Joe Louis Walker and Honeyboy Edwards.

Disc 2 features the best material from the five Splinter Group albums and provides the perfect re-introduction to the man who has inspired a generation of guitarists and blues lovers alike.

Peter Green has recently been the subject of a new documentary, ‘Man Of The World' and at the recent Mojo Honours Green was awarded the prestigious Les Paul Award for guitar innovation.
